from my first trip to the Pyrenees. I caught the sleeper train down through France to Pau, buses up to Etsaut in the Vallee d'Aspe and then walked hut to hut on either side of the French and Spanish border using GR10-HRP path variants.
Overnight stops along the way: Refuge d'Ayous ,Chalet Refuge Gabas
,Refuge d'Arremoulie,Refugio de Respumoso ,Chalet du Clot ,Refuge des
Oulettes de Gaube.
On the day from Respumoso I'd orginally planned to take a direct route
to Oulettes after descending from the Col de Grande Fache but there was
quite a lot of snow over the next pass and other walkers had turned back
so I stayed on the French side and looped round through the Vallees du
Marcadau and Gaube.
At Oulettes the forecast was heavy snow for the next few days ,so the
next morning I beat a hasty retreat down the valley to Cauterets where I
stayed for the last couple of nights before catching the bus to Lourdes
and sleeper back to Paris.
