Early June on the plot

My first allotment post since November 2016!

I did some remodelling of the beds during the winter and early spring and the warm spell since mid May has meant everything has sprung into life. We've experienced our normal late May/early June drought but some much needed rain is forecast soon.
Now harvesting lettuce, salad leaves, chard and radish after having quite a prolonged period cutting purple sprouting broccoli in the "hungry gap".

View down the plot

Express broad beans with module sown beetroot, spinach and turnips protected against sparrow attack

Top half of the plot - soil much easier to work than bottom half

One of the remodelled beds with berry fruits moved to the fenceline - lots of beans and with squash still to be planted between

One of the new raised beds in the poorly drained bottom section - module sown Crapauline beetroot and three kinds of chard

Berlin to see Runrig

A two night visit to see Runrig at the Spandau Citedal in lovely weather.Too wrapped up in the music and atmosphere to take any photos at the concert but took some on my walk through the Tiegarten and along part of the Wall before the evening gig and the next day in Potsdam and on the River Havel cruise.
