Early May on the plot with a few changes

The beds are beginning to fill up with a mixture of direct sowings and transplantings

Overwintered Japanese Onions from sets with a couple of rows of garlic

Masterpiece Broad Beans and Ulster Prince potatoes, with mixed direct sown succession bed behind which has just swapped over from a early spring Thermacrop cover up to netting against the Sparrows.

Redcurrent bush probably has too much old wood but it's looking healthy and has a decent amount of fruit spurs.

I've removed the double height boards from the two small lower field side beds which were meant to help reduce waterlogging but actually made it worse. Now open sided beds with make do paving paths which cost me nowt.

Permaculture mixed fruit corner and some Good King Henry in old bags

Looking very lush and soon-to-be productive. What a fun time of year this is (when the weather behaves!)

Our redcurrant bushes need the same treatment but there always seems to be something more pressing to do
