Ooh, your Spring garden looks beautiful. What a lovely plant aquilegia is, such a complicated looking flower and lovely colours

Hi Belinda,
I think that I've got (at least) two different strains one of which has more complex flower forms than the other.There's a lot of cross pollination which results in new colours and combinations.This year has produced a few examples which are either pure white or pale yellow quite unlike any of the others.
In recent years I've tried cutting most of the pale pinks down early before they seed so as to encourage more of the darker colour combinations.
Although Aquilegia self seed like mad I wouldn't be without their wonderful late spring display.
