Mid July veg fest

Have just got back from a 10 day trip to Austria to find everything has gone crazy on my plot. Even the middle pathway is disappearing beneath the greenery and the veggies are generally keeping the weeds at bay.
Although it hasn't rained here while I've been away the "high water table" ,aka waterlogged clay, has come into it's own.

I'm particularly pleased with the shallots, having never grown them before. They seem to be a better deal than an onion as each set produces 6 or so bulbs which are more like huge spring/continental onions and with most of the green stem edible at this stage.

The middle one is garlic which I'm also using fresh.
More veggie fest photos

Gesause Alps photos will appear soon.

You don't notice things growing when you see the plot regularly but after some time away things change dramatically. Lack of rain may have helped keep the weeds in check too.

it all looks great as if you had been weeding and feeding every day!
